I Cannot Write To Data Dir /var/local/squirrelmail/data
You need to go run conf.pl in the config/ directory first before you run this script. Example mkdir -p /var/local/squirrelmail/attach mv -i data/ /var/local/squirrelmail/ # Replace "data/" with the path to the original data directory. After doing all of this, make sure to create the attach directory, or squirrelmail might throw an error to users when they attach something to a message. You have to set that in the the configuration script, by executing; cd /[path to SquirrelMail]/ config/conf.pl in the shell. I suggest double/triple checking your configuration file to locate where the path for the default_pref file is defined, and make sure that you set it to a directory *your user* owns You can always come back here for help if you have a specific question, but doing a little "basic training" will go a lot further than just getting technical answers here Create a link to point to the correct file and restart Apache.

also there are less features, IE: the calendar is missing.. I also saw on the squirrel mail http://squirrelmail.org/wiki/DataPermission page something about absolute paths, but I couldn't find anything in the config.pl file pointing to /var/lib/squirrelmail/data folder. Make sure that IUSR_something (anonymous internet user) can execute it. If you install php from source, it may also be necessary to recompile Apache httpd.
