I have owned Macs since the '80's n never had such a mess occur with a new operation system. It is the same as to System Preferences / Internet Accounts. (Not to be confused with Mail / Preferences / Accounts). Check the Outgoing Mail Servers (SMTP) Click Edit SMTP Server List Add (+) Server name: smpt.mail.yahoo.com Port: 465 Select Password for Authentication method. My wife has a 3GS, running a prior OS, I think 4.1, uses yahoo email frequently and she is not having this problem.
