Itunes Cannot Detect Airport Express

Express is in another room connected to a receiver (and home speakers). uninstall itunes, airfoil, airport utility. restart computer, make sure firewall is switched off. It seems that the Swisscom router does not support the multicast messages that Bonjour depends upon to make devices (time capsule, airport express) appear visible on the network. However, the one AE I use as a print server doesn't seem to be working in that capacity. I guess I didn't make the sequence clear: the express spontaneously disappears from the utility listing FIRST, then I have to change settings to get it to reappear.
